How to complete Sample Production Parts

Sample production parts are the parts submitted or retained to show the product configuration evaluated in PPAP. The customer determines quantity, identification, delivery route, and retention requirements.

Complete the fields

Part identification
Record part number, revision, lot, date, machine or line, cavity or serial number, and PPAP submission reference as applicable.
Production condition
State the equipment, tooling, operators, rate, material, and process condition required by the PPAP request.
Quantity and destination
Record the requested quantity, shipment or storage location, customer contact or portal reference, and retention location.
Status and traceability
Link sample parts to dimensional, material, performance, and capability results.

Step-by-step completion sequence

  1. Read the customer request for sample quantity, labeling, and delivery instructions.
  2. Produce samples under the required production-representative conditions.
  3. Identify each sample so it can be linked to its evidence and records.
  4. Inspect, package, and ship or retain samples as instructed.
  5. Retain traceability until the customer and internal retention requirements are met.
PPAP control point: The customer’s current submission request, customer-specific requirements, and approved forms control. This guide explains a practical way to prepare the record; it does not authorize a substitute format or acceptance criterion.
