How to complete Customer Engineering Approval

Customer engineering approval is evidence that the customer’s engineering function has accepted the applicable product or submission condition. It is only included when requested or required.

Complete the fields

Customer approval reference
Record the approval number, portal record, signed report, or other customer reference.
Part and revision
State the exact part number, revision, and submission condition approved.
Approval status
State approved, interim approved, or other status exactly as communicated by the customer; include limitations and expiration if any.
Approving authority and date
Record the approving customer function or authorized representative and date.

Step-by-step completion sequence

  1. Confirm whether customer engineering approval is requested for this submission.
  2. Submit samples or data using the customer’s stated route.
  3. Retain the returned approval record, including any conditions.
  4. Compare the approved configuration with the PPAP design record and PSW.
  5. Track expiring or conditional approvals to resolution.
PPAP control point: The customer’s current submission request, customer-specific requirements, and approved forms control. This guide explains a practical way to prepare the record; it does not authorize a substitute format or acceptance criterion.
